Friday, April 18: Kick off Press Conference for all Earth Week Activities 2:00 p.m. at Moorhead Center Mall.
April 18-22: Waste Transformation Art Exhibition at the Moorhead Center Mall (Herberger's Wing). For more information, visit www.co.clay.mn.us.
Saturday, April 19: "Party for the Planet" - Bring the family to the Red River Zoo (4220 21st Ave SW, Fargo) from 12:00-4:00 p.m. Kid-friendly activities are planned throughout the afternoon.
Saturday, April 19: "F-M Green Expo" - Come to the Southwest Hockey Arena (4404 23rd Ave. SW, Fargo) from 10:00 a.m.-5 p.m. and learn about "green" techniques. Exhibitors will display merchandise or services that are environmentally friendly. Speakers are scheduled through the day on various topics including landscaping and home remodeling.
April 20-25: Get Clean Week. Get rid of your toxic cleaning products that harm the environment. Call and schedule a pickup, 701-281-7857. For a list of pickup times, please view the Clean Week brochure.
Sunday, April 20: Aveda Earth Month 5K Walk. All pledges raised will go towards clean water projects in the upper midwest. You may pledge or walk yourself. Meet at 3:00pm at the Rabanus Park Shelter (4315 18th Ave SW, Fargo, next to the West YMCA building). Contact SJ Hair Studio at 701-237-4021 for more information.
April 21-23: Stop by your local Household Hazardous Waste Facility (Fargo or Clay County) during their regular business hours and register to win an Earth Week t-shirt. Fargo's facility is at 606 43 ½ St. N. Clay County's facility is located at 2729 Hwy 10 East, Moorhead.
April 21-26: Get Your "Can" on the bus. Ride the FM MAT bus for one aluminum can. Also, register to win a free T-shirt. For more information call 701-232-7500 or go to www.matbus.com.
April 21 - May 17: The Commuter Challenge, which encourages biking, busing, carpooling, walking, and other alternatives to driving an automobile alone to work or school. April 21-26: Visit the Habitat ReStore! Donate working appliances, building materials, cabinets, etc. throughout the week and receive a 20% off discount card. Stop in at 210 11th St. N. in Moorhead and enjoy store-wide savings and enter to win ReStore gift certificates. Tuesday, April 22: Green Roof Tours. Kilbourne Group is hosting green roof tours at 102 Broadway from 2-5 p.m. Tour a recently completed green roof. Free.
Tuesday, April 22 & Thursday, April 24: Walk This Way sponsors community walks Tuesdays and Thursdays from March 25 thru May 22. Go to www.fmwalkthisway.com. Free rides on MAT April 21-26 with Walk This Way passport.
Wednesday, April 23: Dr. Bridget J. Stutchbury is a professor of biology at York University in Toronto and is the author of the book, "Silence of the Songbirds." Dr. Stutchbury will present at the Fargo Theater on Wednesday, April 23 at 7:00pm. In her presentation, she will follow songbirds to their wintering grounds in Latin America and back to their breeding grounds in North America to understand what challenges they face along the way. She will explain why so many songbirds are threatened by habitat loss and pesticides, and how we can make the world safer for them. Saturday, April 26: HERO, Healthcare Equipment Recycling Organization, will hold a used equipment drive to collect durable medical equipment for redistribution to individuals with health needs. Volunteers will pick up equipment or donors may drop off items at HERO, 2204 5th Ave. N. Ste. C. in Moorhead from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Warehouse tours and refreshments will be provided.”
